Dealing with Failure

Jesus had a lot to say about failure and how to deal with it. CONSIDER how Jesus told His disciples that “whenever you enter a town, and they do not receive you, go to the street and say, ‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off…’” When failure comes, Jesus says to:

1. Expect it. He told his disciples to be realistic. There are going to be those towns! Do not allow them to stop you. Be prepared, expect failures along the way.

2. Admit it. Jesus made his disciples stop before going on, so they could have a time of “admitting.” Jesus was saying, clear the air, and get it off your chest. It’s alright to fail. The world is not going to stop.

3. Learn from it. Was I the cause of that town rejecting what I had to say? Who and what went wrong? We’ll do better in the next town.

4. Forget it and go on. There comes a time of forgetting and going on. A time of shaking off the dust. Jesus would not permit His disciples to carry any failures into the next town.

Simple – Expect it, admit it, learn from it, and finally forget it and go on. Failure is the way of getting somewhere to the successful person.
