UPDATED WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2018 3:39 PM EST

Matthew 25: Ministries responded to the devastating wildfires that ravaged parts of California. The wildfires destroyed nearly 7,000 structures and was one of the worst fire outbreaks in state history.

Our Disaster Response Team departed on Wednesday, October 18 with our fleet of specialized vehicles. The first semi of aid arrived in California on Monday, October 23. The truck contained personal care items, first aid supplies, paper products, and diapers. In total, we shipped more than 7 truckloads of aid to the affected area. The team distributed supplies and offered laundry services to those affected by the wildfires. The team continued to assess needs and met with partners to lay the groundwork for future shipments of aid.

The team was deployed in Santa Rosa, California for a week. During the week, they were able to distribute approximately 490 personal care kits, 6,400 rolls of paper products, 1,225 detergent samples, 1,070 packs of wipes, 85 cases of diapers, and 585 safety masks. Additionally, the team completed more than 670 loads of laundry for those affected by the wildfires.
