TEXAS FLOODING 2016
UPDATED WEDNESDAY, JUNE 15, 2016 9:46 AM EST
Matthew 25: Ministries responded to extensive flooding that submerged many areas in and around Houston, Texas. It was one of the wettest springs on record for much of Texas. Weeks of heavy rain storms throughout the region caused rivers to overflow their banks. Many roads were flooded or washed out and floodwaters surged into multiple neighborhoods.
Matthew 25: Ministries’ Disaster Response team departed at 8:30 AM on Wednesday, June 15 with Matthew 25’s complement of specialized Disaster Relief vehicles. The trucks were loaded with relief supplies including P&G Comforts of Home personal care kits containing items such as Secret deodorant, Crest toothpaste and Pantene shampoo as well as household cleaning products like Bounty, Mr. Clean and Swiffer. The trucks also distributed Cintas first aid and safety supplies, and additional items such as Pampers diapers, Charmin toilet paper, Tide Pods and tarps. The team traveled throughout the region, establishing central distribution sites and also delivered products to hard hit areas. Matthew 25 responded to similar catastrophic events in Texas in 2015.
“Texas has been hit with historic flooding since 2015,” said CEO Tim Mettey. “Our team traveled to Texas three times in 2015. We feel it is important for us to return to the area and continue to assist with recovery in every way we can.”
