Tide Loads of Hope was founded in 2005 in response to Hurricane Katrina. Tide saw the need for providing clean clothes to those impacted by the devastating storm. Having their clothes washed allowed those impacted to feel hope knowing that someone cared for them, and provide a sense of normalcy during such a challenging time.
In 2015, Matthew 25: Ministries and Tide expanded their existing partnership by adding the Tide Loads of Hope Mobile Unit to the Matthew 25 fleet of disaster vehicles, providing free laundry services to thousands of households across the U.S. whose lives had been impacted by major disasters. The addition of a second Tide unit in 2018 increased capacity, allowing the program to help even more people in need. The Tide Loads of Hope Laundry trailers, powered by Matthew 25: Ministries, are equipped with high-efficiency washers and dryers donated by Whirlpool and can do up to 300 loads of laundry per day for communities in need.
When possible, Matthew 25 and Tide Loads of Hope work with Walmart to provide accessible, easily identifiable locations from which to provide services to those impacted by disasters. Recently, Matthew 25 and Tide have collaborated with Walmart to add a third, co-branded laundry trailer to the Tide Loads of Hope fleet to expand the number of people that we can serve together. P&G brands like Tide are trusted to provide products of the highest quality and superior performance and value for the daily-use cleaning, health and hygiene needs of consumers around the world.
During times of disaster, proper care and laundering procedures are vital to our team to be able to return clothing back to their owners free of debris, dirt, and other possibly harmful materials that they may have encountered during the storm. From using high quality detergent to neatly folding each article of clothing, the process is intentional and consistent with each wash.
