Surprise Tornadoes Rampage through Iowa Towns

JULY 20, 2018  Cincinnati, OH – Matthew 25: Ministries, an international humanitarian aid and disaster relief organization in Cincinnati, OH, is responding to the unexpected tornadoes that swept through Iowa on Thursday, July 19, causing damage in several towns.

The tornadoes caused injuries to at least 17 people, flattened buildings in several towns and forced the evacuation of a hospital. Almost 7,000 homes and businesses reportedly lost power.  Matthew 25: Ministries is continuing to monitor the weather system, which is still very active, and is communicating with on-the-ground partners to assess needs.

Matthew 25’s Disaster Response Team plans to deploy on Saturday, July 21, depending on how the weather system continues to affect potential areas. The deployment will include a selection of Matthew 25’s fleet of disaster vehicles.  The team will be distributing relief supplies including P&G personal care kits, household and cleaning products, Cintas first aid and safety kits and supplies, and additional items such as Pampers diapers, Charmin toilet paper, Tide Pods, and tarps.

“We need to do everything we can to help them through this frightening time, and help them begin the process of recovery and rebuilding,” Matthew 25’s CEO, Tim Mettey said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all who have been affected by this disaster.”
