Matthew 25: Ministries is Responding to California Wildfires Devastating Greater Los Angeles
Matthew 25 is Working with Partners to Ship Critical Supplies to Impacted Communities
JANUARY 9, 2025, BLUE ASH, OH – Matthew 25: Ministries, a humanitarian aid and disaster relief organization based in Blue Ash, OH, is responding to the severe wildfires devastating Greater Los Angeles. Several of the fires, including the Palisades, Eaton, and Hurst fires, ignited on Tuesday afternoon, fueled by fierce winds exceeding 80 mph and exacerbated by prolonged drought conditions. These wildfires have caused at least 5 fatalities, burned over 25,000 acres of land, destroyed thousands of structures, forced over a hundred thousand residents to evacuate, and caused widespread power outages, leaving more than 300,000 households without electricity. Additionally, smoke and ash have significantly worsened air quality across the region, heightening health risks for millions of people. More than 7,500 firefighters have been deployed to combat the rapid evolving fires despite challenging conditions.
Matthew 25: Ministries is working closely with partners in the disaster region to ship truckloads of essential supplies to communities devastated by the wildfires. These shipments will provide critical support to families and individuals, addressing their immediate needs and helping them to take the first steps toward recovery. Matthew 25’s disaster relief resource map, detailing locations where people impacted by the wildfires can access services and relief supplies, will be available at https://m25m.org/resourcemaps/.
“The devastation caused by these wildfires is truly heartbreaking,” said Tim Mettey, CEO of Matthew 25: Ministries. “Entire communities have been upended, and countless lives will be forever changed. Our mission is to bring hope in the face of unimaginable loss. We are working with our partners to deliver life-sustaining supplies and offer hope and support to those who need it most during this incredibly challenging time.”
Matthew 25 is requesting monetary support to assist with rapid and long-term relief and recovery as well as product donations to supplement existing supplies and for restocking during their response to this and future disasters.
