September 13, 2024, BLUE ASH, OH – – – Matthew 25: Ministries, a humanitarian aid and disaster relief organization headquartered in Blue Ash, OH is responding to Hurricane Francine, which made landfall on Wednesday evening as a Category 2 storm near Cocodrie and Morgan City in Louisiana. Francine produced winds around 100 mph as well as heavy rainfall, triggering severe flooding and widespread power outages. Although Francine has now been downgraded to a Tropical Depression, the storm system is expected to continue dropping heavy rainfall as it moves across the South, causing widespread flooding. More than 10 million people across the south were under flood watches at the peak of the storm. This portion of Louisiana has been impacted by several major hurricanes in recent years including Hurricane Laura and Hurricane Delta in 2020, and Hurricane Ida in 2021.
Matthew 25: Ministries is in communication with area partners and is shipping truckloads of aid to assist with immediate needs. Initial shipments will provide essential supplies such as personal care products, baby supplies, paper products, insect repellant and additional items. Matthew 25 will continue working with partners serving the impacted areas to identify most urgent needs.
Matthew 25 is requesting monetary and product donations to supplement existing supplies and for restocking during their response to this and future disasters.
