Postage Guaranteed

I found something the other day. Actually, I found three things: a set of keys, a little metal tag and a message from God.

Reaching into my coat pocket I found an extra set of keys. Oops! Someone had put them in there by mistake (a long story I won’t go into). While examining the keys, I found a little metal tag with an interesting message inscribed on it. “Drop in any mailbox. . . Postage Guaranteed.” Well, I found the owner of the keys and did not have to mail them.

As I went on my way I CONSIDERED those keys and the message on that little tag, and then I made my third discovery- a message from God!

In everyone’s life there should be a place where everything they have lost can be found. No matter the distance, no matter the circumstances, no matter the time, it is always there and returning there means being found.

Jesus told the story of the Prodigal Son. CONSIDER that lost young man hitting rock bottom. Once the son of a wealthy man, now slopping with the pigs! Now envision the boy remembering something his father gave him before he left home- a message. “Son- take any road home. My love guaranteed.”

And sure enough, when the boy returned home he was welcomed with shouts of joy and a great banquet, because as his father said… “What was lost is now found.”

May we all carry with us such a message, and may we all have such a place where things can be found.

So he got up and went to his father. ‘But while he was still a long way off, he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. ‘He was lost and is now found.’” (Luke 15:20&32)
