United or Untied
One of the nuisances of the language disorder call dyslexia is, first of all, trying to spell dyslexia. Another is letter reversals. It can make for some most interesting words at times. Usually they are unintelligible and impossible to pronounce. Secretaries delight in trying to decipher them. Well, one day, to my great delight, my dyslexia allowed God to speak to me, and now to you.
I had intended to spell the word UNITED…like “we are all together”, instead I spelled the word UNTIED…meaning “we are going our separate ways.” Looking at what I had done, I thought, “How true it is.” With these words, the same with people, it is the “I” which determines whether something will be UNITED or UNTIED. An attitude, a spoken word, an action by someone can transform something UNITED into something UNTIED or take something UNTIED and make it UNITED.
CONSIDER, I thought to myself, “Where do you stand, Wendell, as the ‘I’ in God’s work, his church, his world?” Are you someone who UNITES or UNTIES things? Do you cause things to go in separate ways or do you work to bring things together? How about you?
“Teach me thy way, O Lord, that I may walk in thy truth; make my heart UNITED to fear thy name.” (Psalm 86:11)
