Matthew 25: Ministries’ Hunger 5K Benefits their Work with People in Need!

OCTOBER 26, 2023 BLUE ASH, OH The seventeenth annual Hunger 5K Run and Walk on November 4th sponsored by Brandicorp benefits top-ranked, locally based humanitarian aid and disaster relief organization Matthew 25: Ministries. The race on November 4th at 8:30 AM kicks off the Hunger 5K Food Drive which provides much needed non-perishable food items to over 40 local food pantries and shelters during the holiday season. Now in its 17th year of helping to fight hunger in Greater Cincinnati, the Hunger 5K and Hunger 5K Food Drive have raised more than a million pounds of food for people in need in Greater Cincinnati. In 2022, 70% of Matthew 25’s over 26 million pounds in distributions stayed in the US and millions of those pounds of supplies stayed right here in Greater Cincinnati, benefiting hundreds of local partners.

The 2023 Hunger 5K Benefiting Matthew 25: Ministries and sponsored by Brandicorp receives support from Gold Sponsors Christian Blue Pages, Last Mile Food Rescue, Simplify3D and Star 93.3 and from additional Sponsors City of Blue Ash, Prestige AV and Creative Services, RacePenguin, Lasting Impressions, the Alleen Company and Crown Trophy.

Participants can save up to $10 by registering in advance and all participants enjoy chip timing, post-race refreshments, award opportunities and receive a long sleeved t-shirt. Discounts are available for groups of six or more, as well as for active and veteran military. The Hunger 5K’s registration site, hunger5k.org also offers opportunities to invite friends to join or to fundraise. There are multiple race categories with awards to the first three winners in each category. Details of the USATF certified course for the 2023 event are available at hunger5k.org. Chip timing will be provided by RacePenguin.

All proceeds from the race and the food drive benefit Matthew 25: Ministries’ work with the poorest of the poor and disaster victims in Greater Cincinnati, throughout the US or in more than 70 countries around the world. Participants are encouraged to help Matthew 25 restock local pantries during the holiday season by bringing non-perishable food items to the race or the food drive. Matthew 25: Ministries accepts food donations from individuals, groups and organizations, as well as bulk donations of food from corporate donors. Matthew 25 also welcomes financial gifts for the purchase of additional food staples. During November, non-perishable food items can be dropped off at 11083 Kenwood Road in Blue Ash from 9am – 4pm Monday – Friday and 9am – 3pm on Saturdays through November 30. All food donations are distributed to Greater Cincinnati pantries and shelters during the holiday season.

Lack of food is a critical local and global issue. Approximately 1 in 8 families in Ohio are living with food insecurity, but with the help of generous community members, Matthew 25: Ministries can work with partners during the holidays to bridge the nutritional gap for families in need in our community.

Matthew 25: Ministries accepts cash, credit card and online donations for ongoing disaster relief and humanitarian aid programs. 100% of designated funds are used for the purpose intended. Matthew 25 also welcomes volunteers six days a week at their Blue Ash facility. For the most current information on Matthew 25: Ministries’ activities, please visit their website https://m25m.org/ or follow Matthew 25 on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/m25m.org, Instagram https://www.instagram.com/m25m_org/ and Twitter https://twitter.com/M25M_org.
