Historic Flooding Most Destructive In State’s History


MARCH 20, 2019 Cincinnati, OH – Matthew 25: Ministries is responding to historic flooding across the upper Midwest that has killed at least three people.  Continued flood warnings remain in effect for more than 7 million people.  While waters are slowly receding in some areas, rivers will continue to be flooded for days, and additional rain and melting snow are expected this week, slowing the process of recovery.  Matthew 25: Ministries, an international humanitarian aid and disaster relief organization in Cincinnati, OH is deploying its Disaster Response Team to Nebraska to assist victims of the most widespread and destructive flooding in the state’s history.

Matthew 25: Ministries’ Disaster Response Team will be departing on Thursday, March 21 at 9:00 AM for locations in Nebraska with a selection of Matthew 25’s Disaster Response vehicles. The response fleet includes two Tide Loads of Hope Mobile Units that can do up to 300 loads of laundry a day as well as two customized panel trucks loaded with supplies such as P&G personal care kits, household and cleaning products, Cintas first aid and safety kits and supplies, and additional items such as Pampers diapers, Charmin toilet paper, Tide Pods, generators, fans and tarps.  Initial destinations include Bellevue and Fremont.  Once on site, Matthew 25’s Disaster Relief Coordinator will continue to evaluate additional areas of need.

Matthew 25 is also sending several initial truckloads of aid to partners in Knox, Washington and Platte Counties over the next week. The shipments will be filled with products such as personal care items, paper towels, toilet paper, facial tissues, diapers and batteries among other items. These products will be distributed throughout the affected areas.

Matthew 25 is always seeking additional supplies for disaster preparedness and distribution.  Always needed and appreciated supplies include:

  • Monetary Donations: Donate online, mail checks to Matthew 25: Ministries, 11060 Kenwood Road, Cincinnati, OH 45242.
  • Non-Perishable Food: PULL TOP canned vegetables, fruits etc.; ready to eat dry goods such as nuts, peanut butter, dried fruits, granola and trail mixes, jerky, ready to eat snacks; bottled water; ready- to-eat meals or MREs etc.
  • Bottled Water: 12- and 24-cases
  • Personal Care Products: Antibacterial soap, hand sanitizer, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, body wash, deodorant, lotion etc.
  • Cleaning supplies: Laundry detergents, general cleaner, sponges, bleach (powdered form is preferred), mops, scrub brushes, buckets, rubber gloves etc.
  • Paper products: Toilet paper, paper towels etc.
  • Baby and infant supplies: Diapers, wipes, diaper rash ointment, baby wash, baby shampoo, baby lotion etc.
  • First-Aid items: Bandages, gauze, pads, first aid tape, antiseptic creams, hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, latex gloves, instant cold packs etc.

Matthew 25: Ministries accepts cash, credit card and internet donations for ongoing disaster aid and humanitarian relief programs.  More than 99% of Matthew 25: Ministries’ cash and in-kind donations go toward programs. All designated funds are used for the purpose intended.
