It’s Coming Your Way
I was talking on the phone with a friend from Indiana. “Why are you so cheerful this morning?” I asked him.
“You can’t be anything else on a bright, beautiful and sunny day,” he responded with a smile in his voice.
I turned and looked out my window. The sky was grey and overcast, just as it had been for weeks. “Sunny? Not here in Cincinnati,” I complained.
“Well it sure is in Indy,” he continued, “and I predict the sun will be shining there in a few hours, ‘cause it is coming your way!”
On that day, the break in the clouds was less than 100 miles away and coming my way, and yet, if my friend had not told me so, I would have planned on a dreary, cloudy day. But because of my friend’s good news, I watched the sky with anticipation and carried with me the hope that the sun will shine.
Early that afternoon, the sun began to break through the clouds. By evening there was a breathtaking sunset on the western horizon. My friend was proven reliable. His prediction came true. My hope was well founded. Let’s CONSIDER the words of the Psalmist . . .
“Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD.” (Psalm 31:24)
“For thou, O Lord are my hope.” (Psalm 71:5)
