Nicaragua Programming
Matthew 25 began as the result of a trip Founder Reverend Wendell Mettey made with a group of doctors and nurses to Nicaragua in 1990. Upon leaving, Pastor Mettey made a promise to himself that he would find a way to help the people of Nicaragua. Over the years, Matthew 25 has built numerous relationships with distribution partners and community leaders, and contributed to projects including facility construction or improvement, small business and micro-enterprise development, educational enrichment and support, disaster relief and more.
Paso Real
Matthew 25 has supported the village of Paso Real in Nicaragua since the late 1990s. The village has become a model for the surrounding area—demonstrating what can be done with collaboration and creative use of resources—and the center of a bustling regional support operation. Matthew 25 has constructed a warehouse and a community center for the village, shipped many containers of supplies, built a hydroelectric power plant to provide electricity to the village and supported on the ground programming including community aid for the elderly and disabled, sustainable agriculture, animal husbandry, job and micro-business training and support and education enrichment. The community also serves as the base for disaster response operations in the surrounding region.
With support from Matthew 25: Ministries, the village of Paso Real and the surrounding communities have achieved remarkable things. Each year, Paso Real strives to diversify and grow their programs for the benefit of their village and the surrounding communities, and to develop additional programming and expand locations served in order to help more people.

Restoration and Rebuilding
Matthew 25 also extends our impact beyond the Department of Carazo. Matthew 25 helps with upgrade, expansion, and furnishing projects that enhance educational capacity and support public works in other parts of Nicaragua.
