Haiti Programming

Since 1998, Matthew 25 has been serving the people of Haiti through regular shipments of aid. Following the 2010 earthquake, we expanded our efforts to include recovery and rebuilding initiatives such as medical and humanitarian mission trips, building repair and upgrades projects, and support for equitable education and enrichment opportunities for Haitian youth. Matthew 25 also provided medical support and long-term recovery and rebuilding assistance to partners after Hurricane Matthew swept through the south of Haiti in 2016 and an additional earthquake impacted the same region in 2021.

Bel Fle

Matthew 25 continues our on the ground programming in Haiti despite challenges resulting from ongoing unrest and uncertainty.  While Bel Fle Missions Hotel is not currently functioning as a hotel or host for our medical clinic due to violent activity in the surrounding area, the property continues to provide maintenance and security employment for Haitian staff members and occasional work for community members.

Belvi

Belvi, the Nancy Oppito Center for Family Health, while unable at this time to provide services from our clinic location inside the Bel Fle property, has recently opened a temporary clinic in a safer zone. It is, once again, providing in-person care to registered patients, as well as continuing to provide healthcare services via telemedicine to patients with urgent needs or ongoing conditions. Belvi also provides access to affordable medications and testing services for patients.

Haiti Orphanage

Matthew 25 has also continued to support a large urban orphanage in Haiti that cares for more than 130 children. This support includes quarterly donations of essential supplies such as toiletries, paper products, and cleaning supplies. In addition, Matthew 25 provides nutritious food, pop-up medical clinics for the children and staff, and weekly follow-up visits to offer additional care and consultations. Matthew 25 also provides Christmas presents for the children at the orphanage, and recently completed a refurbishment and upgrade project involving resident dormitories and bathrooms to provide an enhanced quality of life for the children.

Matthew 25 is committed to continuing to provide relevant support to areas coping with long-term humanitarian crises or conflicts, often developing creative solutions to challenges that may arise in these types of situations.
