Updates Regarding COVID-19
UPDATED TUESDAY JANUARY 31, 2023 5:03 PM EST
Matthew 25: Ministries is continuing to monitor officials’ reports regarding the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The health of our staff, volunteers, donors, and the people we help is our top priority. We are so thankful for everyone who supports our work!
WE ARE DISTRIBUTING EMERGENCY SUPPLIES
Matthew 25: Ministries is responding to COVID-19. To date, we have distributed over 10 million pounds of supplies to more than 1,400 organizations—including hospitals, fire departments, police departments, nursing homes, schools, healthcare facilities, and more. These items make a tremendous impact and will help support our partners’ tireless efforts as they care for high-risk populations including the sick, the elderly, the impoverished, and others in need.
Supplies provided include face masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, paper products, soap, batteries, diapers, plus additional personal protective equipment, personal care products, cleaning items, and more.
Hospitals, health care facilities, first responders, businesses, or other organizations who are in need of supplies such as personal protective equipment, medical supplies, cleaning products, personal care products, batteries, or other essential items may email info@m25m.org to submit a request for product, and we will connect with you soon.
INDIA COVID-19 SURGE
A deadly second wave of coronavirus infections devastated India in the spring of 2021, leaving hundreds of thousands dead and millions struggling to recover, putting stress on the country’s already strained healthcare system. Matthew 25: Ministries worked with partners to airlift over 3,000 pounds of PPE and sanitizing products to partners in India to support front line workers and public safety, helping healthcare facilities to protect their employees and safely meet the continuing needs of their communities. This shipment included products such as hand sanitizer, kn95 masks, face shields, coveralls, and mixed medical supplies such as pain relievers, oximeters, vitamins, masks, and sunscreen. Additionally, Matthew 25 supported a feeding program in India to help care for those in need.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSE EFFORTS
Matthew 25: Ministries made over 6,200 face shields to provide medical professionals with extra protection. The shields are constructed with laminated sheets, donated New Balance foam and shoelaces, and donated double-sided tape from the Gorilla Glue Company. These face shields help those on the front lines to stay safe as they are caring for those in need.
In addition to our ongoing relief efforts in Greater Cincinnati and throughout the US, we worked with partners in the Caribbean and Latin America to manufacture hundreds of thousands of reusable face masks for in-country healthcare facilities, service organizations, and others in need. These masks are essential for helping to keep people safe and reduce the spread of COVID-19 in these countries.
Matthew 25: Ministries also implemented a mobile feeding program that serves lunch to staff at local hospitals, including extra sandwiches for their night shift staff. The mobile Arby’s and Brandicorp trailer served complimentary Arby’s sandwiches to hospital and healthcare workers, as a way of caring for those on the frontlines of this crisis. Foodservice providers maintained social distancing and minimized personal contact while providing lunches.
Matthew 25: Ministries provided boxed frozen meals to non-profits and food pantries throughout Greater Cincinnati as part of a community meal program. Since June 2020, Matthew 25 has provided approximately 4,200 meals to organizations working to feed the poor and homeless in their communities.
Matthew 25: Ministries processes donations of hand sanitizer for shipment to partners throughout the United States to help people stay safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as for general humanitarian relief. So far, we have filled approximately 50,000 bottles. View a short video of our process.
Matthew 25: Ministries has supported testing and product distribution events throughout the U.S. in order to care for people in under-served communities, who may have limited access to testing and essential supplies during this time. These events helped provide the resources necessary for helping individuals stay healthy and slowing the spread of COVID-19 in these communities.
Additionally, Matthew 25 has hosted several drive-through events at our facility in Blue Ash, Ohio to help provide free COVID-19 testing, PPE and relief supplies, as well as lunches to members of the Greater Cincinnati community in an effort to help promote personal and public safety. In total, Matthew 25 has helped provide approximately 6,500 PPE kits, 3,500 meals, and administered more than 500 free tests to the local community.
