HURRICANE ISAIAS 2020

UPDATED TUESDAY, DECEMBER 15, 2020 11:23 AM EST

Matthew 25: Ministries responded to severe damage and flooding caused by Hurricane Isaias. In partnership with Procter and Gamble, Matthew 25: Ministries provided truckloads of disaster relief including over 95,000 pounds of supplies such as personal care items, cleaning supplies, paper products, baby supplies, and more to areas affected by the storm.

Hurricane Isaias peaked as a Category 1 storm that struck parts of the Eastern Caribbean and the US East Coast, causing significant damage. Isaias formed as a tropical storm and then strengthened into a Category 1 hurricane with peak intensity winds of up to 85 mph.  The hurricane caused damage to Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, and the Dominican Republic before weakening into a tropical storm that skimmed the east coast of Florida and Georgia. Isaias re-intensified into a hurricane before making landfall along the Carolina coastline and then continued to move up the East Coast of the United States. The storm caused severe flooding, wind damage, power outages, and loss of life in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, as well as portions of the United States.
