MATTHEW 25: MINISTRIES RESPONDS TO
CATASTROPHIC FLOODING AND MUDSLIDE IN NEPAL

Matthew 25 is Working with Local Partners to Provide Immediate Aid and Long-Term Support to Impacted Communities

AUGUST 27, 2026 Blue Ash, OH – Matthew 25: Ministries, an international humanitarian aid and disaster relief organization headquartered in Blue Ash, Ohio, is responding to the devastating flooding and landslides that overwhelmed communities along the Nepal-China border on Wednesday, August 26. A catastrophic torrent of floods and landslides swept through the area as the result of a 5.2 magnitude glacier collapse. More than 250 fatalities have been reported as a result of the disaster, and over 800, including 65 Americans, remain missing.

Flash flooding has destroyed villages and deluged valleys and mountain passes, burying or destroying buildings, sweeping away roads, dams and bridges and damaging or destroying infrastructure. In some areas, the remaining mud is 5-6 feet deep. Nepal’s mountainous terrain, with sheer sides and deep valleys, is especially susceptible to devastating events. In 2015, Matthew 25 launched a multi-year response to the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that impacted areas northwest of Kathmandu in Nepal. Because Matthew 25 maintains partnerships throughout extended recovery periods and beyond, they are well-positioned to respond to this event.

“This is a horrific event, and we are committed to standing with the people of Nepal both now and throughout the long recovery ahead,” said Tim Mettey, CEO of Matthew 25: Ministries. “No one can prepare for a disaster like this. People need immediate help, and they also need hope in this dire situation. We will help these families maintain their dignity and give them the strength to keep moving forward. Our partners are already on the ground providing critical aid to impacted communities, and we are committed to supporting them as they help people recover and rebuild.”

Matthew 25: Ministries is working with trusted local partners on the ground to provide immediate aid to individuals and families impacted by the catastrophic flooding and landslides. Initial rounds of aid, including food, hygiene supplies, medical supplies and temporary shelter, are being sourced in-country, allowing partners to rapidly distribute critical assistance to people in need. As immediate relief efforts continue and needs evolve, Matthew 25 will work closely with these partners to provide additional aid and long-term support throughout the recovery and rebuilding process.
