KENTUCKY FLOODING 2026

UPDATED TUESDAY, JULY 7, 2026 3:04 PM EST

Matthew 25: Ministries is responding to the severe storms and flooding that engulfed parts of Kentucky on June 27 and 28, causing extensive damage and submerging multiple communities.

Heavy storms and severe flooding have deluged parts of Kentucky, with multiple cities and counties declaring states of emergencies, including Albany, Brandenburg, Burkesville, McKee and Muldraugh as well as Bullitt, Clinton, Cumberland, Garrard, Grayson, Jackson, Jessamine, Madison, Meade, Mercer, Metcalf, Spencer and Wayne counties.  The storms caused widespread flooding, water rescues and evacuations as well as a dangerous landslide that included part of a dam embankment. Several casualties have been reported.

On Monday, June 29, Matthew 25: Ministries deployed a disaster response team to deliver aid to areas impacted by the storms. Supplies to be distributed included personal hygiene kits personal care kits, hygiene products, clean-up tools, first aid and safety kits, charging stations and more. Matthew 25 will continue supporting these areas with shipments to assist with long-term recovery needs.

“This flooding is having a devastating effect on these rural communities,” said CEO Tim Mettey. “Many areas are submerged with limited access to critical supplies and services. Helping our neighbors recover from this destructive event, giving them hope and helping them regain a semblance of normalcy is our immediate focus. We have supported these areas in the past and will continue to support them during their recovery from this.”
