Devastating wildfires swept across Greater Los Angeles and surrounding communities in January. The Palisades, Eaton, and Hurst fires—fueled by prolonged drought and ferocious winds exceeding 80 mph—scorched more than 40,000 acres, destroying thousands of homes and businesses. The powerful winds rapidly spread the flames, making containment efforts incredibly challenging. At the height of the crisis, hundreds of thousands were forced to evacuate and 300,000 households were without power. More than 7,500 firefighters and first responders battled the flames under extreme conditions. The fires claimed lives, displaced families, and created hazardous air quality conditions, putting millions at risk.

In response to this crisis, Matthew 25: Ministries worked closely with partners in the affected region to send truckloads of critical aid to impacted communities. So far, more than 25 truckloads, totaling over 480,000 pounds, have been sent to provide emergency relief to families. These shipments include hygiene items, clean water, blankets, baby supplies, and other essential materials to meet immediate needs. These resources provide a foundation for recovery as communities begin to rebuild.

“The devastation caused by these wildfires is truly heartbreaking,” said Tim Mettey, CEO of Matthew 25: Ministries. “Entire communities have been upended, and countless lives will be forever changed. Our mission is to bring hope in the face of unimaginable loss. We are working with our partners to deliver life-sustaining supplies and offer hope and support to those who need it most during this incredibly challenging time.”

Together, we can bring relief and comfort to those who have lost so much in these devastating fires.
