NORTHERN MIDWEST FLOODING 2024

Matthew 25: Ministries is responding to devastating flooding that occurred in the Northern Midwest at the end of June. Historic flooding deluged portions of Nebraska, South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota. Thousands of homes and buildings were destroyed, hospitals and healthcare facilities were forced to evacuate, powerful water flows collapsed a bridge and endangered a dam, and cities were left without power or clean water during a bout of severe and extensive flooding in the upper Midwest. Almost 3 million people have been impacted by the flooding, from Nebraska to Minnesota. Compounding the situation, the temperature in some communities hit by flooding neared 100 degrees during the week.
In collaboration with Procter & Gamble and Walmart, Matthew 25: Ministries deployed their Disaster Response Team along with a selection of vehicles including a Tide Loads of Hope Mobile Laundry unit, a shower trailer and a co-branded panel truck. The team provided essential services including laundry and showers, and distributing supplies such as P&G personal care kits, baby supplies, paper products, Zevo insect repellant and additional supplies including garbage bags, cleaning supplies and first aid and safety supplies provided by Cintas to areas impacted by the flooding. Matthew 25 will continue to communicate with partners in the area to evaluate how we can best serve the ongoing needs of the impacted areas.

RECENT UPDATES FROM THE TEAM
7.04.24 Spencer, IA | The team continued relief services on Thursday, completing 100 loads of laundry and distributing essential supplies, including approximately 70 rolls of paper products, 10 personal care kits, 10 first aid and safety kits, additional supplies.
7.03.24 Spencer, IA | On Wednesday, the team continued relief services, completing 120 loads of laundry and distributing supplies, including approximately 200 personal care kits, 55 first aid and safety kits, 20 boxes of diapers, 120 detergent pod samples and additional supplies, to the impacted communities.
7.02.24 Spencer, IA | The team continued laundry and shower services today, completing 100 loads of laundry and offering 14 showers. The team also distributed supplies throughout the community, consisting of approximately 240 rolls of paper products, 15 boxes of diapers, 35 personal care kits, 10 first aid and safety kits and additional essential supplies.
WAYS TO HELP
Matthew 25 is requesting donations of the following types of items to supplement existing supplies, for restocking during their response and for future disasters:
Monetary donations:
- Donate online or mail checks to Matthew 25: Ministries, 11060 Kenwood Road, Blue Ash, OH 45242 (100% of donated funds designated for the 2024 Northern Midwest Flooding will be used for the purpose intended).
Product donations – The following items will be accepted at our facility located at 11083 Kenwood Road, Blue Ash, OH 45242:
- Cases of bottled water: 12 and 24 count
- Personal care products: Antibacterial soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, body wash, deodorant, lotion, etc.
- Cleaning supplies: Laundry detergents, general cleaner, sponges, bleach (powdered form is preferred), mops, scrub brushes, buckets, rubber gloves, etc.
- Paper products: Toilet paper, paper towels, etc.
- Baby and infant supplies: Diapers, wipes, diaper rash ointment, baby wash, baby shampoo, baby lotion, etc.
- First-aid items: Bandages, gauze, pads, first aid tape, antiseptic creams, hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, latex gloves, instant cold packs, etc.
- Candles and flashlights: If necessary, please include the appropriate size batteries with any flashlight donation
- Clean-up supplies: Protective eyewear, work gloves, trash bags etc.
